The bedrooms
This large Charente farmhouse has two exquisite bedrooms, both with en-suites. The master bedroom has a beautiful hand-forged iron four poster bed, with a deep, fully sprung super-king mattress and topper.
The second bedroom has a french corbeille bed with a deep, king size sprung mattress. Luxurious cotton bedding and fluffy towels are provided during your stay. A sofa bed is available in the Couloir partitioned off with a curtain for up to 2 additional guests if required.
Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the holiday essentials you need. In the centre you’ll find a long, grand oak kitchen table – perfect for lazy French breakfasts and to admire the hamlet views. On chillier evenings there is a wood burning stove and two traditional French armchairs, a wonderful spot to pause with a glass of Bordeaux after a day of exploring (or relaxing).
Lounge
The lounge within the farmhouse is where our guests can find some zen. Equipped with a flat screen tv, Freeview UK satellite channels and comfortable sofas, along with a Provence log burner effect fire (gas) set into the fireplace. The house is exceptionally cosy in the winter too, with full central heating and a complimentary basket of logs for the wood burning stove, perfect for those out of season weekends away.

The Couloir
The main entrance into La Maison du Charpentier from the courtyard is known as ‘The Couloir’. It is steeped in history and was the former meeting place for the hamlet. Every room in the farmhouse leads off the Couloir and you’ll find beautiful Charentise doors at either end.
To reflect the history of the farmhouse the Couloir has been transformed back into a dining room. With its polished oak floor and large refectory table, it’s the perfect space for get-togethers with family and friends, or to celebrate Christmas or anniversaries and special occasions. Perfect for when guests of up to 12 rent both the properties at Chez Lussaud.
There are two quiet seating areas at each end of the Couloir, one end is where the sofa bed is positioned, which can be partitioned off with curtains for extra privacy.
Garden and terrace
Leaving the Couloir from the back doors, there is a large chestnut tree and gravelled area. This haven of shade is perfect for escaping the summer sun, or to soak up evening sunsets over the pool.
Alongside the hot tub you’ll find a spacious outdoor dining area complete with barbecue, table and chairs. Off the terrace guests have their own private access to the shared pool.
Wood fired hot tub
Just across from the kitchen door is a pretty terracotta terrace, complete with a private wood-fired hot tub. With air jets and ambient lighting and powered by wood, it’s the perfect spot to sit back, relax and sip a delicious glass of something. Relax in the sun or take in the stunning, twinkling skies at night.
Please note the first basket of logs is with our compliments, there is a small charge for additional baskets after that. Hot tubs are emptied and disinfected before refilling for each new booking. The water is tested by us daily and we will change the water regularly depending upon usage.
